Curtis <\/span>Flowers <\/span>faced <\/span>an <\/span>extraordinary <\/span>legal <\/span>ordeal<\/span>, <\/span>being <\/span>tried <\/span>six <\/span>separate <\/span>times <\/span>for <\/span>the <\/span>1996 <\/span>murders <\/span>of <\/span>four <\/span>employees <\/span>at <\/span>a <\/span>Mississippi <\/span>furniture <\/span>store<\/span>. <\/span>Flowers<\/span>, <\/span>a <\/span>Black <\/span>man, <\/span>saw <\/span>his <\/span>trials <\/span>marred <\/span>by <\/span>allegations <\/span>of <\/span>racial <\/span>discrimination<\/span>. <\/span>During <\/span>the <\/span>first <\/span>two <\/span>trials<\/span>, <\/span>the <\/span>State <\/span>used <\/span>its <\/span>peremptory <\/span>strikes <\/span>to <\/span>exclude <\/span>all <\/span>Black <\/span>prospective <\/span>jurors<\/span>. <\/span>Flowers <\/span>was <\/span>convicted <\/span>and <\/span>sentenced <\/span>to <\/span>death <\/span>both <\/span>times<\/span>, <\/span>but <\/span>the <\/span>Mississippi <\/span>Supreme <\/span>Court <\/span>overturned <\/span>these <\/span>convictions <\/span>due <\/span>to <\/span>prosecutorial <\/span>misconduct<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
